Ukrainian Stories and the Merseyside Connection

This project will ensure the stories of the Ukrainian community who have sought refuge in Merseyside since March 2022 are recorded and preserved for future generations. Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Ukraine and The Merseyside Connection will interview 60 people at Liverpool Central Library to include 40 Ukrainian refugees, 15 host families and 5 organisations who supported the refugees when they arrived in Merseyside.
As part of this project Whispered Tales will also involve a further 20 volunteers from the Ukrainian community to form a research team to gather photographs, film and other memorabilia relating to the two-week Eurovision Festival hosted by Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine in 2023. The result of this project will be a public exhibition which will be launched in May 2025. Whispered Tales is working very closely with the AUGB, Liverpool branch and we would like to thank them for all their support on this project.
